When to consider a breast lift
There are many reasons why breasts start to hang. Pregnancy, connective tissue weakness, a large breast volume, weight or hormone fluctuations may be the cause. Then, the glandular bodies move further into the skin pockets, so that the nipples also sink.
Unfortunately, even targeted strength training does not help to achieve a tightening because the chest has hardly any muscles. Thus, for those who suffer from sagging breasts and desire a new form, surgery is the only option.
Make a well-informed decision
Women who are considering a breast lift usually think about the procedure for a long time before deciding. That’s a good thing. Mrs. Dr. Hoffmann takes a lot of time with you to find out what your breasts should look like after the operation. She advises you, from woman to woman, on available techniques, how the treatment works and possible risks. Your questions will be answered at any time – be it at the second or third appointment. At the clinic, you will also get to look at before-and-after pictures of other women.
Holistic view of the breast
We consider your breast a total artwork and will, if necessary, combine different methods to create a beautiful, new form. In some cases, it makes sense not only to tighten the skin, but also to remove tissue. If so, we will simultaneously perform an adjusting breast reduction.
For women who want a little more volume, we tighten the breast and add high-quality silicone implants. This approach may be useful for women who want to keep their current cup size. Taut breasts look smaller than sagging breasts; thus, we adjust for missing volume if necessary.
Tightening breasts merely by a volume filling using a silicone implants is only sensible for slightly hanging breasts with areola that are not too low. A supplementary tightening around the areola margin (Benelli cut) often helps.
Many years of experience help us to find the right surgical method together with you. It is important to assess the connective tissue condition and to weigh the risks and effort of the different methods. Mrs. Dr. Hoffmann has specialized in breast surgery for many years and is well-versed in all surgical procedures. If necessary, she will set two operational dates.
Classic and new methods of breast lift
The techniques most commonly used for breast lift include the T, L, I, and O methods. The names of these techniques derive from the cuts’ form, which are similar to a “T”, an “I”, an “L” or an “O”. These cuts remove the excess skin and reposition the glandular body to refill the upper thoracic pole. It is also important to consider a good wound closure: Tender stitching results in inconspicuous scars. Mrs. Dr. Hoffmann takes a lot of time for the procedure and only terminates it when she is satisfied with the result.
The I method is the most scar-efficient method because it only requires a vertical cut. The T and L methods add one or two additional cuts, often allowing for better breast shaping. On large breasts in particular, the T-cut produces very good results. Mrs. Dr. Hoffmann will clarify with you which cut is most promising in your case.
If breasts are slightly hanging, in case of which the areola tends to become disturbing, the O-method (Benelli method) offers a possibility to do much with a small intervention. By performing an outpatient procedure using local anesthesia, the skin is reduced circularly around the areola. Positive side effects: The disturbingly large areola is simultaneously reduced in size and set up. Even though the actual mammary gland will not be reshaped as in the procedures described above, this technique will have a major effect with barely visible scars surrounding the areola margin.
In recent years, the surgical techniques have been significantly developed. For example, with the new Hall-Findlay method, a particularly stable blood supply to the tissue can be achieved. In the “inner bra”, in turn, the tissue is shaped so that it can serve as a support for the mammary gland. This prevents the mammary gland from starting to sink in the course. How does follow-up care work?
At med.aesthetic you receive advice, surgery and aftercare from one source. Your contact person is always Dr. Hoffmann, so you can rest assure to be in good hands.
On the day of surgery, a special support bra will be adjusted for you. It stabilizes the breasts from the outside, gives you security and is worn 24 hours a day in the first 6 weeks. For the first 14 days you will also receive a forming fixed bandage, which will only be changed at the clinic.
Depending on the findings, it is advisable to spend a night at our private clinic. You will be accommodated in a single room and looked after by a registered nurse. After leaving the clinic, you will visit us regularly for wound control and dressing change. You are also welcome to contact Dr. med. Hoffmann around the clock, should questions arise.
The sensitivity of the nipples is usually reduced for a few weeks, after which it usually returns to normal. Mild wound pain can be treated well with painkillers in the first few days. After the first week, they are usually no longer needed.
Although you can admire the tightening at the first dressing change, it takes several months to reach the final result. It should also be pointed out that over the years, the skin’s natural aging process can change the shape of the breast.

Miss Dr. Hoffmann: For over 20 years. All breasts are different, and results are usually very nice. That is why I am still passionate about it.
Miss Dr. Hoffmann: As with any surgery, bruising and wound healing disorders can occur. Since the connective tissue is often poor in lowered breasts, asymmetries can arise. This means that the breasts can develop differently in the course. But that does not necessarily disturb, because a complete symmetry rarely occurs in nature. In some cases, the ability to breastfeed may be disturbed or restricted. At med.aesthetic we take great care of your safety and take the necessary time to proceed with care.
